Subcision

Subcision is a minimally invasive procedure that treats deep acne scars and wrinkles by using a fine needle to break up the fibrous tissue beneath the skin. This allows for natural collagen production to fill in the scar, resulting in smoother skin over time. 

 Subcision is primarily used for deep acne scars, rolling scars, and deep-set wrinkles. It is also effective for other skin irregularities caused by underlying fibrous tissue.

The number of treatments varies depending on the severity of the scars or wrinkles. Some patients may see noticeable results after just one session, but typically, multiple sessions spaced a few weeks apart are recommended for the best outcome. 

Subcision is performed under local anesthetic, which minimizes discomfort during the procedure. Most patients find it to be a relatively comfortable experience, thanks to the numbing effect of the anesthetic. 

Results from subcision develop gradually as collagen production increases over the weeks following the treatment. Some improvement can be seen within a few weeks, but full results are usually visible within 3 to 6 months as the skin continues to heal and rebuild. 

Downtime is minimal after subcision. Patients may experience mild bruising, swelling, or redness at the treatment site, which typically subsides within a few days. Most individuals can return to their normal activities shortly after the procedure. 

 Yes, subcision is often combined with other treatments, such as microneedling, chemical peels, or fillers, to enhance overall results and improve skin texture more effectively.
