You know when your deodorant simply refuses to play ball, and the damp patches or makeup melting make you avoid certain clothes or meetings? Excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, is common and often more than just inconvenient. There are targeted medical treatments that can significantly reduce sweating in specific areas like the underarms and hairline, and a specialist facial protocol is available where appropriate. Below is practical, clinician-led information about what these injections do, which areas we treat at The Gorgeous Clinic, what to expect and why a proper consultation matters.

Excessive Sweating Treatment: When Deodorant Is Not Enough, What is hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is when your sweat glands produce more perspiration than needed for temperature control. It can be local, affecting places such as the underarms, scalp hairline or parts of the face, or more general. Localised hyperhidrosis is a medical condition and not a sign of poor hygiene.
Excessive sweating can disrupt daily life, from staining clothes to smudged makeup and social anxiousness. Treatments exist that target sweat production directly, helping people feel more comfortable and confident. A clinical assessment will check whether sweating is primary hyperhidrosis, related to medication, hormonal changes or another cause before any treatment is recommended.

Where we treat sweating

At The Gorgeous Clinic we commonly treat underarm sweating, the front hairline, full perimeter hairline and selected facial sweating concerns such as forehead or upper lip areas. Treatment is tailored to the precise pattern of sweating and your goals. Not every area is suitable for every person; we assess skin quality and functional anatomy before proceeding.
Underarm treatment is the most widely used and can reduce sweat enough to stop visible staining and lessen odour. Hairline and facial treatment focus on keeping the injections superficial and controlled, to reduce sweat without affecting normal facial movement. Results vary by individual and by area treated.

How anti-sweat injections work

Anti-sweat injections use a form of botulinum toxin type A delivered into the skin to temporarily reduce the signal from nerves that stimulate sweat glands. At the Gorgeous Clinic we use a specialist facial sweating protocol for selected facial areas, where a more superficial technique can be safer and more appropriate. This protocol is an off-label technique used where clinically suitable and only after careful assessment.
The treatment does not remove sweat glands. Instead it reduces their activity for several months, which can be life-changing for comfort, makeup longevity and day-to-day ease. Exact technique and placement are clinical decisions made at consultation; dosing details are not discussed here.

What to expect at consultation

A consultation checks the cause and pattern of your sweating, reviews medical history and medicines, and examines the area to be treated. We discuss realistic outcomes, possible side effects and aftercare. For facial sweating the assessment includes a conversation about aesthetic balance and movement, because the injections are placed superficially in the skin rather than deep into muscles.
Consultations are free of charge and offer time to ask questions, including alternative options such as topical prescription antiperspirants or oral medications. If treatment is suitable we’ll explain likely recovery and when to expect effect, usually within days to a couple of weeks.

Recovery, results and safety

Most people return to normal activities the same day. There may be mild local redness, tiny pinprick marks or brief sensitivity at injection sites. Serious complications are uncommon when treatment is performed by experienced clinicians following medical protocols. Results typically develop over days and last several months, after which sweating usually returns to pre-treatment levels unless further treatment is given.
Choosing a clinic with medical oversight, clear consent and follow-up is important. If you are considering treatment, a consultation is the safest place to start.
