The DAO muscle is responsible for pulling the corners of the mouth downward during expression — but with age, stress, or overactivity, it can begin pulling even at rest. This creates a naturally downturned or “sad mouth” appearance, even when you feel fine.
By delicately weakening the DAO on each side, the corners of the mouth gently rise back to a neutral, relaxed position.
